Three weeks in Northern Italy In April, 2015, I spent 3 weeks riding a long, oblong loop in Northern Italy that started and ended in Milan's Malpensa Airport. First, I rode east along the southern shores of several large Italian Lakes. At Vicenza, I headed northeast to Bassano del Grappa, where I started heading back west. I slowly meandered my way back toward Milan visiting the northern shores of many Italian Lakes, riding up into the Italian Alps, and taking ferries into Switzerland.

Every day I saw wonderful scenery, be it, lakes, forests, waterfalls, snow-covered mountains, rivers, creeks bubbling through countryside, flowering trees, or just wide-open vistas. The people of Northern Italy are easy to talk with, incredibly hospitable, very courteous to bicycle tourists, and tolerant, even encouraging, to budding Italian speakers.

While the only food available in Italy is Italian Food (and one gets tired of it after while), it isn't the worst cuisine to grow weary of. The prices of food and lodging were reasonable, the weather was good, and roads in good repair. All in all, this was a wonderful time in great place. One of my best bike tours!
