The Forest of Dean used to be a royal hunting ground and, as a result, is largely undeveloped. It is north of the Severn, just east of the Welsh boundary line. I rode from south to north. It was a bit hilly but the roads were deserted with forest views. Don't miss Symonds Yat, at the north end of the forest. It is a promontory carved by the River Wye where you can see Peregrine Falcons nesting. |
